Out to Lunch

Yesterday we found a cute little view location to have lunch. We've been sightseeing with a couple of relatives who were visiting for the weekend. This new discovery is called Auberge de Soliel. It is the subject of many a painting and now I can see why. It's not a place we can take the dogs, so it worked out that they stayed home this time.

The Hens

The original four of Katherine's flock. From left to right, they are: Flora, Fauna (Blue Cochin hens), Calypso, and Celeste (Wellsummer hens).

"In terms of production, we've had great success with the Wellsummer hens. They produce an egg a day during spring, summer, and fall. In the kitchen we enjoy frying up the Cochin eggs for breakfast, although these hens go broody a lot and don't lay as many eggs. Fauna was the best layer of our Cochins, and my favorite hen. It was a great loss when she was taken down by a coyote."
